As sustainability becomes an even bigger part of the global conversation, we have prioritized listening to and learning from our customers and employees to better understand how we can support them on this journey. We’ve used their feedback to launch two new training modules to empower Akamai employees to lead the sustainability conversation with our stakeholders. We saw high levels of engagement on both modules during their first full year of availability. 

We see these modules as core components of our strategy going forward, as well as evergreen resources. As our listening journey continues, we plan to build and strengthen stakeholder relationships that have become a critical feedback loop for our program. By creating this direct pipeline, we are giving customers and employees a stake in the evolution of our program.

Sustainability Essentials

This module grounds the learner in foundational sustainability concepts and empowers them to engage directly in Akamai’s sustainability work. Communicating Akamai’s sustainability strategy in a way that is clear, approachable, and directly connected to our everyday lives allows us to meet our colleagues where they are. The module invites all employees to participate in Akamai’s climate journey by submitting continuous improvement ideas, reporting nonconformities, and raising awareness. This training is required annually for all employees and is a vital part of maintaining our ISO 14001 attestation.

Sustainability Stewardship

This voluntary companion module builds on the Essentials course and was developed in collaboration with sustainability champions within the Sales organization. It empowers Akamai Sales teams to bring customers deeper into the discussion by providing the tools and structure to lead sustainability conversations at every stage of the sales cycle. Learners are encouraged to discover their customers’ unique needs and challenges with regard to their sustainability journey, and meet them where they are with tailored data and guidance.
